About Us

Tagadere is the only volunteer run, user-led self help support group for people living with HIV in Nottinghamshire. We aim to improve the quality of life for people affected by HIV in the region by providing valuable peer support, information and guidance to people regardless of sexual orientation, race or religion. We were awarded status as a Registered Charity on 6th May 2009.

We believe that by being local, user-led and maintaining a grassroots, independent attitude we are able to offer a more personal and practical hands-on approach. This means that our involvement remains more direct and organic than if we were a large corporate institution, resulting in us being able to offer a genuinely bespoke service.

As a user-led support group we have the advantage of personal experience and insight into the various aspects of living with HIV. Therefore, following a person’s HIV-positive diagnosis we are able to provide essential social support in a welcoming, confidential and safe atmosphere. We aim to meet a crucial and fundamental need for support at a time when feelings of confusion, uncertainty and isolation can be prevalent.

In May 2011 we were very proud and honoured to announce that Tagadere had taken on board the management and administration of The Notts. Hardship Fund which was established in 1997. This is a very important step in our development and extends the assistance and support that we are able to offer to a wide variety of people living with HIV who are in financial difficulty.
